“We spent a couple of hours at the beach with Anya during a recent holiday. From the time we arrived until the time we left, it was total chaos. We were late. I was stressed. My oldest son was miserable complaining of a tummy ache. Our youngest son only wanted to run into the water and throw sand. My husband hates having his photo taken. And there was a newborn baby.
So, when it was all said and done and we were climbing the stairs back to the holiday house, my husband said to me, ‘well that was a waste of money, please don’t ever make us do that again’. I agreed, neither of us could see how there could have been one decent photo that came out of the last two crazy hours.
And then, we saw the photos. In amongst the total mayhem, Anya had captured our family. And each photo reminded me of why we wanted to have them taken in the first place. It is so easy to miss what is going on around you. While we were there all I could see around me was grumpy children, misbehaving children and a reluctant husband. When in fact what was there, was our beautiful family.
Anya captured the moments that get lost in the chaos of a family. The tiny moments that happen every day, but we miss them because there is so much else going on. Through Anya’s photos we saw not chaos, but joy. And we will always have her to thank for that.”
