We can ooh and ahh over photographs on our screens every day, but honestly…I want them on paper, in our hands, on our walls and in our albums. Where they’re meant to be.

I’ve been photographing some of these families for many years.

And honestly, watching them grow alongside my own children is one of the greatest privileges of this work.

There’s a little heartache to it too.

Because I get a front-row seat to just how quickly time passes.

What can I say other than I’m here for you, mama.

What can I say other than I’m here for you, mama.

I’m here to help stop that time that seems to get away from us, no matter how hard we try to slow down and enjoy the moment.

I’m here to see what only a mother’s heart will notice. The little things you know you’ll miss one day, even while you’re still living them.

I’m here to laugh with you when it’s time to laugh, and cry with you too, because motherhood is grieving. It’s loving something so deeply while knowing that time will keep taking pieces of it away.

The babies become the boys. The boys become teenagers. And somehow, the years you thought would last forever are suddenly the ones you’d give anything to have back.

So trust the mama who has lived the then and the now.

I know why these photographs matter.

Do you love the photos where everyone’s looking at

Do you love the photos where everyone’s looking at the camera, or the ones where nobody’s looking at all?

I love both.

One lets me look into your eyes and see who you are. The other catches the quiet in between, the moments you didn’t even know were happening.

Those are the ones that make you stop. Remember.
