One year ago today I was driving from Palm Springs to Las Vegas under the torrential rain, whilst on the phone to Igor (it was 2 am his time) to keep me company on the five hour drive. All because I hadn’t taken into account the early morning traffic into LA to catch my early morning flight. Torrential rain doesn’t even begin to describe the conditions, my first 10 minutes on the road, I had to turn back because of a flowing river in the middle of the access to the highway….so the long way around it was!
Thankfully much travel has taught me patience and to see the unexpected as an opportunity for adventure; as well as a husband who’s given me the confidence to drive under nearly every condition and who despite it being the middle of the night, stayed with me for a lot of the journey.
At the end of this long wet road, I had four special valentines waiting for me and despite the rain, making it impossible to go outdoors for any pictures; we may have had the best afternoon ever and I may just love these images a little more than others taken during our previous six sessions. Yes for the images who thanks to the rain had another level of closeness and intimacy, but even more so for the memories created together.
I can still hear them chanting “we love Anya, we love Anya!”
