Oh, how grief works in ways you don’t even reali

Oh, how grief works in ways you don’t even realise, quietly reshaping you until, one day, you look back and see what it has done.

For much of last year, I was held by grief, guided by an unseen force that controlled more of my existence than I knew at the time. Like all challenges, you try to accept them, to move through them. You get up every day, force a smile, and go through the motions of simply getting through.

But when you’re in it so deep, no amount of smiling can bring light to the broken places inside. And then, without warning, something shifts. Not all at once, not in a grand or obvious way, but in the smallest, most unassuming moments.

It doesn’t mean the grief is gone. It doesn’t mean the weight has disappeared. But it means something else has arrived—light.

If you’ve felt this too, know that even in the hardest season, you are never truly alone. The light may come slowly, quietly; but it does come.

It’s funny how doubt creeps in.

One moment, I’m wondering if anyone is truly interested in my offers. The next, a family from Switzerland is reaching out to meet me in France for a session. Another from Poland is willing to travel to Spain just so I can capture their story. A return client from Mexico is meeting me in Italy to capture yet another chapter of their one and only life.

It’s a humbling reminder: the right people will always find you...

The space where it all begins ✨

In just a few weeks, this beautiful studio, belonging to Sarah from @sarahvassallophoto will be filled with creativity, inspiration, and the energy of photographers ready to refine their craft. This first workshop of the year is extra special—not just because of the foundation it lays for the workshops ahead, but because I’ve reshaped the way we spend our time together.

Rather than rushing through a packed schedule, I’ve slowed the pace, allowing space for deeper understanding, meaningful discussion, and hands-on learning that truly sinks in. Over two days, we’ll focus on maternity and newborn sessions first, followed by family photography, both indoors and outdoors. Each day includes editing, business insights, and product design—ensuring you leave with not just beautiful images but a renewed perspective on your work.

May will mark 16 years of doing what I love, with 14 of those spent teaching and sharing my journey with others. It’s this constant search for growth and inspiration that fuels my passion to build experiences like this workshop—where we can challenge ourselves, create, and inspire each other.
